Welcome from our Chief Officer Keith Rowley

It was great to see so many people at our conference last year in Harrogate and to return to a face-to-face event.

I’d like to thank everyone who gave us feedback during and after the event and can assure you we have taken all comments on board to refine and improve this year’s conference.

In our 62nd year we have chosen the Manchester Central conference centre as our venue with our Gala dinner at the Hilton Hotel, Deansgate.

While NHS Procurement continues to wrestle with the hangover of COVID, HCSA continues to strive to support the continued healthcare recovery effort.  In addition to this, we face extraordinary supply chain challenges with inflation and resilience dominating the procurement agenda.

We are also contending with structural changes being brought about by the Health and Social Care Bill 2022 and the impending changes described in the Procurement Bill to transform public procurement.

In consideration of this, our Winter Conference theme will continue our summer conference one of “NHS Procurement – delivering recovery & resilience”.

The agenda is well advanced in support of this theme and you can look forward to a superb line-up of speakers – including a well known inspirational figure from outside the industry – plus new workshops to help you reflect on and address the challenges you face.

This year’s programme will also reflect a very positive and busy year for the Learning and Development team as it delivered in-house courses, launched the Learning Management System, and enjoyed another fantastic PDP.

Indeed, we will be running several Future Leader sessions during the course of conference with some of our keynote speakers giving their experiences of what is needed to rise through the ranks of NHS procurement. These will be ticket only events so book early to reserve your place.

The overall format of the conference will follow our usual two-day live event – with our Gala Awards Dinner on the second night – however please note that this year’s conference is running earlier in the week across Tuesday and Wednesday, rather than our more traditional Wednesday and Thursday schedule.

We have also held prices over from last year and I am delighted to say we have a record number of attendees already booked so please do confirm your place early to avoid missing out.

Everyone at HCSA is looking forward to seeing familiar faces again as well many new ones as we strive to increase our membership to 3062 by the time of the event.

I look forward to seeing you there.
